Energy efficiency program for businesses
The long-awaited program for energy efficiency and renewable energy in enterprises BG16RFPR001-2.004 has been launched. Bulgarian micro, small and medium-sized companies can now apply for up to BGN 100,000 in grants for solar installations, batteries and energy-efficient equipment. The deadline is October 13, 2025 at 4:30 p.m.
The program has a total budget of BGN 126 million and aims to reduce energy costs and increase business independence through its own energy production.
What does the energy efficiency program cover?
The funding covers:
- Photovoltaic panels with inverter – 1041.43 BGN/kWp;
- Local batteries with inverter – 1288.83 BGN/kWh;
- Complete solar power plant (panels, inverter, batteries) – 2727.17 BGN/kWp.
The costs are fixed, including VAT, and are recognized as unit values, without the need for offers. The installations must be used entirely for own consumption.
Who can apply for financing of RES projects?
Eligible companies are enterprises registered no later than the end of 2022, with minimum revenues in 2024 – BGN 100 thousand for micro, BGN 300 thousand for small and BGN 1 million for medium-sized companies. Applicants must operate in eligible sectors according to the 2008 Business Classification (e.g. industry and services).
Businesses from sectors such as agriculture, gambling, finance and food, operating under excluded codes, with projects in more than one location or with a similar project already funded, are not eligible to apply.
Deadlines and implementation
The application period began on July 11, 2025 and will continue until October 13. Projects must be implemented within 12 months, starting after the application form is submitted. The minimum amount of aid is BGN 30,000, and VAT is only eligible if it is non-refundable.
How to submit a project under the energy efficiency program?
The application is made through the electronic platform UMIS 2020. The following are applied:
